[JAPAN] Gyukatsu Motomura at Dogenzaka Shibuya-ku Tokyo Japan

March 31st, 2018. It's our 4th day in Japan. And we just arrived at Shibuya area. After checked-in, we had some rest first, enjoying the airbnb after walking around Yoyogi Park, bringing heavy luggage. LOL. Then, we felt hungry. I searched around my airbnb, finding for a nice place to eat, and voila. Gyukatsu Motomura. Just walking-distance far from our place. They have several outlets, but we wanted to eat nearby, for sure. So we walked hand in hand to the outlet *giggling*. But, when we arrived, we couldn't find the place. We followed the maps.. going back to the previous clue. Walked again. Still not finding it. Then we asked a lady that standing there, and she pointed to us. OMG! It's only a small signage, with stairs to basement level, and already had a queue. LOL. When we arrived earlier, there was no visible queue hahaha..

Ok well, yes yes yes, first we had to queue. When in Japan, everything must be in order. Only 7 people in front of us, then it became 4, then it was only 2 people. Good! Then when it's near our time to sit, they asked for our order, and we paid. After that, we waited until they had table for us. The place was quite small. Only 9 people to sit. I think we queued around 45 minutes. The good thing, we got the private table at the corner, only the two of us. Yaaay.

They have 3 options for the set menu. 130g set menu for ¥1400, 260g set menu for ¥2200, and the 390g set menu for ¥3000. If you want additional grated yam just add ¥100 to the set menu price. Since we tried for the first time, we ordered the 130g portion. But if we want to add another beef cutlet, just pay ¥800 additional. No need to order drink since they served free ocha. Yaaaay!!!

Beef Cutlet (130g), barley rice, seasoned cod roe set ¥1400

The set menu comes with a pile of cabbage, barley rice, miso soup, potato salad and pickles. Just pour the salad sauce for the cabbage. Very delish.

How to eat the gyukatsu? Well, they gave us a mini stone to grill the beef cutlet. First, you season it in every sauce you like. Soysauce or horseradish sauce, your choice. Or you can dip it in both sauces. Sizzle it just a few seconds on the mini stone, don't over-grill the cutlet please LOL. Then, enjoy the juicy and tender beef cutlet.

It was dabomb. And by the way, you can get free additional barley rice one time. Cool. The rice was very good. The beef cutlet was juicy, tender, soft, melt in your mouth. It's the best gyukatsu so far for me. Well, for us. Since hubby was super in love with this gyukatsu. Must-try! Worth the wait!!
