Sumire Japanese Restaurant Grand Hyatt Jakarta

October 19th, 2015. I went to Sumire Japanese Restaurant for dinner. Located on 4th floor Grand Hyatt Hotel Jakarta, Sumire was like a hidden gems in the corner. You should try very hard to find the place. If you gave up, you will found yourself stranded in some other place LOL.

APPETIZER

Chawanmushi [Steamed Egg Custard] 50k

Chawanmushi. For me, it's like a comfort in a cup. You should eat it while it's still hot or warm. You will feel love at the first slurp. *uhlala love is in the air* It's not smelly at all. Perfectly delicious.

Sumire Salad 65k

served with sesame dressing

Sumire Salad was very light. And I really love the dressing. It's super delicious. Start your lunch or dinner with this salad, and you will find yourself still ready for another dish because it was so light you won't get your tummy too full.

 Miso Soup 30k

The place was so cold, I was very happy when I could slurp this miso soup right away. Actually miso soup is the main item in a Japanese breakfast and usually eaten with rice, eggs, fish, and pickles. But here in Indonesia, you can eat miso soup anytime. You can eat for breakfast or lunch or dinner. This miso soup from Sumire was also light and well-seasoned.

SUSHI AND SASHIMI

Cano Roll 135k

vinegar rice, dry seaweed, chopped salmon, cucumber, spicy mayonnaise, fried salmon skin, flying fish roe

I love the crunch crunch texture from fried salmon skin. It tasted different from some sushi rolls. A little bit spicy but I think "what the heck!" I love sushi rolls, I should enjoy it, right?

Tobiko (とびこ?) is the Japanese word for the flying fish roe. It is most widely known for its use in creating certain types of sushi. The eggs are small, ranging from 0.5 to 0.8 mm. For comparison, tobiko is larger than masago (capelin roe), but smaller than ikura (salmon roe). Natural tobiko has a red-orange color, a mild smoky or salty taste, and a crunchy texture.

Tenmon Roll 205k

vinegar rice, dry seaweed, prawn tempura, spicy mayonnaise, flying fish roe, crab meat, half grilled salmon

Salmon was always my favourite when we talked about Japanese food. So, when it consisted of salmon, count me in! Well, this tenmon roll consisted not only salmon, but also prawn tempura and crab meat. It was very variety. Love the vinegar rice, also. :)

Sashimi Hana 305k

White fish, tuna, yellow tail, salmon, sweet shrimp, shellfish, octopus

Recommended! Must-try sashimi, all of them. The salmon sashimi of course one of my recommendation. But the white fish, tuna, yellow tail, sweet shrimp, shellfish and octopus were also recommended. They were all fresh and definitely high quality. Don't forget to dip the sashimi into the soy sauce, or some wasabi if you like. :)

MAIN

Assorted Kushiyaki

I love the beef tenderloin!!! Favourite! Yup, fix, prefer the tenderloin than the others. But, they were all delicious. But the beef tenderloin was so juicy and tender, it's like melt in your mouth. I love the sauce too. Different kind of sauces but end up with one result: fantastic!

Cod Fish 245k

served with teriyaki sauce

Best cod fish teriyaki sauce ever! OMG the texture was so mild and delicate. The teriyaki sauce was sweet with such heavily flavour. It added mouthwatering flavour to the cod fish. It's dark deep soy flavour. Addicting sauce, I guess. Recommended dish!!

Teppanyaki - Usuyaki

Usuyaki is a grilled beef roll. I think it was my first time to eat usuyaki. Actually I think it was enoki mushroom inside the beef. I didn't remember because it was too good, so I just ate it with joy. The beef was very juicy. I could taste the sauce was dripping in my mouth. First bite, followed by second bite, then third bite, until the plate was empty LOL.

Teppanyaki is a style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food. The word teppanyaki is derived from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki, which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried.

Teppanyaki - Prawn 125k

Tasty prawy. The juicy and the crunchy of the prawn. OMG. Can you see it? Can you taste it? Looking at my photo right now, I still could taste the prawn dancing in my mouth. The fresh prawn in delicious sauce. Recommended!

DESSERTS

Sticky Rice Balls - Matcha Ice Cream

Sticky rice balls, fruits, matcha ice cream, red bean sauce

Desserts. Mostly never failed me. This matcha ice cream was one of them, although it's a little bit less green tea. I prefer the bitter one. But, the texture was amazing. Really amazing. It's like ice cream with softer texture. Not soft ice cream but similar. And the red bean sauce was the one that added more flavour to this ice cream. Perfecto!
