January 20th, 2015. Petit Julien invited me to do some dessert-tasting. So, I went to Grand Indonesia. Located near Food Hall, Petit Julien was a mini cafe that serve desserts and beverages.

Banana Pralines 35k


Brussels waffle with icing sugar, bananas, pralines, whipped cream and Belgian chocolate sauce.


Banana and Pralines. What a nice combination on top of a brussels waffle. It's not a chewy waffle, more like crispy one. Tasted very delicious. Recommended.

Brownie 30k


Belgian chocolate brownie, served warm with whipped cream.


I love the texture of this brownie. Not very crumbly. The texture was just right.


A chocolate brownie is a flat, baked dessert square that was developed in the United States at the end of the 19th century and popularized in both the U.S. and Canada during the first half of the 20th century. It is a cross between a cake and a soft cookie in texture and comes in a variety of forms. Depending on its density, it may be either fudgy or cakey and may include nuts, icing, chocolate chips, or other ingredients. A variation made with brown sugar and chocolate bits but without melted chocolate in the batter is called a blonde brownie.

Tiramisu 35k


A Belgian version of the Italian dessert, with layers of brownie and Speculoos crunch on top.


Those who love coffee, should love this tiramisu. Served in a small plastic cup. Very cute. And the coffee was rich and strong. :)


Tiramisu (from Italian, spelled tiramisù, [tiɾamiˈsu], meaning "pick me up" or "lift me up") is a popular coffee-flavoured Italian dessert. It is made of ladyfingers (Italian: Savoiardi, [savoˈjardi]) dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of eggs, sugar, and mascarpone cheese, flavoured with cocoa. The recipe has been adapted into many varieties of cakes and other desserts.

Chocolate Bomb 40k


A Belgian chocolate mousse, on top of an almond biscuit, covered with a chocolate ganache.


Melt in your mouth. The almond biscuit had a lovely crunch. It's not that sweet, and not that bitter. I have been told that Belgium is famous with their dark chocolate. I love dark chocolate, as long as it wasn't too bitter. :)


A mousse (French 'foam' /ˈms/) is a prepared food that incorporates air bubbles to give it a light and airy texture. It can range from light and fluffy to creamy and thick, depending on preparation techniques. A mousse may be sweet or savory. Dessert mousses are typically made with whipped egg whites or whipped cream, and generally flavored with chocolate or puréed fruit.

Chocolate Mousse 20k


A light and fluffy Belgian chocolate mousse.


For me, this was the best. I'm drooling now while writing about this. It was sweet and definitely melt in my mouth. It's really light and fluffy. And truly addictive. I will come back to Petit Julien for this. Definitely.

White Chocolate Cheesecake 25k


Belgian white chocolate cheesecake on top of a layer of Speculoos crunch.


Cheesecake was never my favourite. But, the white chocolate was controlling the taste of this cake. So, it's okay for me to eat this cake hahaha..

Brownie Macchiato Cheesecake 35k


Macchiato Cheesecake on top of a Belgian chocolate brownie.


Another coffee cake :) Nice touch with the cheesecake and chocolate brownie. So, it's a mix between chocolate, coffee and cheese. And they were complimenting each other. Such a nice cake.

Banana Pralines Cremeux 35k


A Belgian chocolate tart shell, filled with a brownie and topped with a banana pralines cremeux.


The chocolate tart shell was so moist, filled with a brownie. On top of it was a creamy banana pralines. It was so creamy it's like a mousse. Delish.

Cashew Tart 35k


A sable tart shell, filled with caramelized cashews and topped with a Belgian chocolate mousse.


I think I will fall in love with mousse. They served so much mousse :) It was so moist and tender and soft. The caramelized cashews were nice also. Not hard, just as tender as a cake. Love it.

SAVOURY


Quiche of the Day 40k


A savoury, pastry crust with a filling, made out of feta cheese and the fresh ingredients of the day.


Their quiche was pretty dense. Your hungry tummy will smile happily. You can eat it how ever you like. Dip it in sauce or just plain without anything. Your choice.

DRINKS


Salted Caramel Latte 35k


Unbelievably delicious. I wasn't sure but I think I have to try it before I judge. And it was so delicious, I finished it in a second. It was light and very addictive. Recommended drink!

Green Tea Latte 35k


This was delicious too. Green tea and latte turned out to be a great combination. I rarely drink green tea. And I didn't really like latte. Sometimes it makes my tummy feels funny. But this one was great. Right choice to order this.
