[CLOSED] Killiney Kopitiam Ahmad Dahlan Gandaria Jakarta

December 7th, 2014. After a visit to one of coffeeshop around Gandaria, we rested our feet at Killiney Kopitiam in Ahmad Dahlan street. It was a nice place to visit. Very cozy. I know, Killiney is everywhere. But, here, it's not like any usual Killiney's outlet. It was lovely and felt like home.

At Killiney Kopitiam, we provide quality products at reasonable prices, with the added touch of traditional kopitiam-styled service.

Located along the busy streets of Killiney Road, the existing shop front was founded in late 1919. Back then, while it was an antiquated yet humble shop, its famous bread toast and warm beverages was popular among many people. Though it was just an ordinary Hainanese Kopitiam, it promised well-brewed coffee and tea, not to mention traditional charcoal-grilled bread toast. Mr. Woon, a regular customer of the shop, loved it so much that he wished to own it. In 1993, the dream became reality when he finally bought the shop, renovated it and renamed it 'Killiney Kopitiam'.

When T.S. Woon took over the reins of management, he believed that it was crucial to uphold the legacy. Despite major renovations to the shop front, the present coffee shop retains the traditional working style and influence. A key factor, for which he is very grateful, lies in the three workers who have stayed on and helped him, by means of passing on their skills in making good kaya, bread toast, coffee and tea. His idea is to preserve traditional Hainanese food in Singapore, which is, sadly, slowly disappearing from the market.

The Company's growth has been progressive over the past decade and with the strong and loyal support from our patrons, we have evolved into a strongly identifiable local brand and icon. In addition, we have also unwittingly created a strong following among local coffee aficionados and the breakfast club. Today, Killiney Kopitiam has an extended menu offering a wider variety of local delicacies. We have also expanded to other parts of Singapore so as to be closer to you, our valued customer.

MAIN COURSE

Singapore Curry with Rice 44k

It was one of Killiney's signature dish. It was a curry soup with chicken and potato. Served with 3 choices, either with rice, noodle or toast. I prefer rice, of course. It was good eating it while it still hot. A little bit spicy but still moderate. Generous chicken!!! Still my favourite every time I eat here.

Singapore Laksa Fried Rice 42k

This fried rice also a signature dish here. Served with fried chicken, sunny side-up, crackers, pickles and fried onion sprinkles.  Their laksa tasted very special. It's a blend of spices and ingredients that create something delicious. Put it in fried rice, it became favourite. :)

Nasi Goreng Kampung 42k

It's a fried rice, served with sunny side-up, fish cake, shrimp and pickles. A little bit spicy. Tasted delicious. Nasi Goreng Kampung never went wrong. Somehow it's a must to make a delicious Nasi Goreng Kampung.

TOAST

Kaya Butter 24k

Definitely, the most recommended toast here. It's a toast with kaya jam and butter. It's sweet and delicious. One of the best kaya toast, actually. 4 pieces toast for 3 of us. You know what happened next, right? LOL

COFFEE, TEA & HORLICKS

Mammoth Ice Milo Tariek 39k

Best drink ever. The glass was so big, I wanna bring it home :D Milo is always delicious. And it was really fresh and thirst-quenching after walking from one place to another place. Favourite!

It's really a nice place to chit chat with bestest buddies. Delicious food, fresh drink and bestest buddies. What could go wrong? Nothing! Thanks guys for your lovely companies. *kiss kiss*
