LUNCH TIME

HOMAYA RESTAURANT

Celebrating the authentic flavours of the archipelago, HOMAYA Restaurant recreates and celebrates Indonesia’s diverse food culture with a menu driven by market-fresh ingredients. With 75 seats and a 16-metre communal table set at the front of the restaurant, this semi fine-dining restaurant is the perfect hub to celebrate your memorable event casually.

Homaya stand for Home at Inaya. Actually they opened only for dinner, but they prepared lunch for us. Thanks again Inaya. You surely are one of the best. The restaurant is big with homey feeling. Too bad it's too hot! Yup, another hot day in Bali. We love the food and the drinks, but the best seller that day was cold towels! LOL.

TRADITIONAL JAMU TESTING

Kunyit Asam

Turmeric, tamarind, palm sugar, fresh lime, water

A thirst-quenching beverage. I didn't like "jamu" but Kunyit Asam is the one and only jamu that I can drink. And this Kunyit Asam was very fresh and delicious. Not to mention for that hot day. Refreshing! And with pretty presentation. Hmmm.. recommended.

Rawon

Beef black soup, baby bean sprouts, salted preserved egg, shrimp crackers

Best rawon ever. True! So hard for me to find a delicious rawon. I love the light broth and the tender meat. Addicting! I wanna ask for another bowl but I was shy. Huft. I should ask for another one. It's so delicious I wanna cry!!!

IMG_1851

Lawar Udang

Prawn and green papaya salad, coconut, pomelo, crispy shallot, palm sugar

Salad was never my favourite dish. But this Lawar Udang was very well-seasoned with a bit tangy hint. It's very refreshing and rich in flavour. Love it!

Sate Lilit

Minced fish on lemongrass sate

Favourite! Best sate lilit ever. The meat was very tender with perfect flavour. Definitely a keeper. :)

Sate Lilit is a satay variant from Balinese cuisine. This satay is made from minced pork, fish, chicken, beef, or even turtle meat, which is then mixed with grated coconut, thick coconut milk, lemon juice, shallots, and pepper. The spiced minced meat is wound around bamboo, sugar cane or lemongrass sticks, it is then grilled on charcoal. Unlike skewers of other satay recipes which is made narrow and sharp, the bamboo skewer of sate lilit is flat and wide. This wider surface allowed the minced meat to stick and settle. The term lilit in Balinese and Indonesian means "to wrap around", which corresponds to its making method to wrapping around instead of skewering the meat.

Opor Ayam

Braised chicken curry with coconut milk, lime leaves, lemongrass

Delicious. The chicken was mild and tender. The rich broth made this dish almost perfect. Opor ayam is a popular dish during Eid al-Fitr, but my Mom used to cook this for the family. And when I married with my hubby, my mother-in-law liked to cook it too. So, yeah, it wasn't a special dish for me. But when you cooked it with love, it will be the most delicious dish in the whole universe. LOL. Hyperbola!!

Kaki Kambing

Braised lamb shank in coconut gravy, tomatoes, spring onions, fried shallots

I love their lamb shank. Tender, juicy, succulent. Tasted very good. The meat was tender, fell off the bone, and the sauce was flavoursome. What a superb dish. To-die-for!

Jukut Urab

Mixed vegetables salad in turmeric yellow coconut dressing

Not my favourite. Too spicy for me.

IMG_1865

Wedang Ronde

12 hour infused ginger and local pandan leaf, sago, sweet potato and jackfruit ball coconut ice cream and foam

I LOVE IT!!! The jackfruit ball was the winner. Not as spicy as the usual wedang ronde. It's very unique to mix the wedang ronde with coconut ice cream. I'm okay if they put more peanuts in the sweet potato ball. Yaaaaay, more peanuts.
