[CLOSED] Midtown Bistro and Lounge SCBD Jakarta

April 18th, 2016. This was the second time I went to Midtown. You can see my first review about this place HERE.  The place was quite different from the last time I was there. More sofas. Cool. I prefer a place with sofas. More comfortable.

MIDTOWN Bistro & Lounge offers, "something for everyone," as our owners put it. Over the years this location garnered a reputation for being a great hangout spot for those in the SCBD / Senopati area; the new brand of MIDTōWN continues and upgrades that experience. A place for midweek luncheons, our stock exchange friends often come for after-work drinks, a weekly ladies night brings in our charming cosmopolitan clientele, sporting events on our 5 big screens bring in our loyal fans, and on weekends our place livens up with bands and established DJs. Ultimately, the FOOD is what makes people say there is "something for everyone." Chef Parjiyo created a menu designed to keep people coming back for more with, a sometimes overwhelming number of options, our menu takes your palate on journey across the globe and back.

The Menu

SALAD

Thai Style Beef Carpaccio Salad 80k

Sesame seed crusted beef Carpaccio, mescule, onion, red chilly, lemongrass, tomatoes, coriander, mint, crushed roasted peanut, crispy glass noodle and Thai chilli dressing.

Salad was never my favourite. :) If you're my loyal reader, you must know that I don't really like salad. But I love when they put beef carpaccio LOL. And my friend was very fond of this salad. It's spicy and sour. Well, really not my thing, right?

SOUP

Prawn Bisque 65k

Prawn ravioli, croutons, shrimp bisque, sour cream and chive.

The prawn ravioli was delicious. But for the shrimp bisque, too fishy for me. Good thing there's croutons to balance the taste. Too bad my friend doesn't eat prawn anymore, so I finished it all by myself.

Chive: An herb which resembles hollow blades of grass, and the smallest member of the onion family. Chives have a mild onion flavor. Their distinctive smell and taste is derived from a volatile oil, rich in sulphur and common to the onion family, but milder and more subtle in chives.

MAIN COURSE

Moroccan Tagine Lamb Shank 210k

Lamb shank braised in Moroccan spices, tomatoes, date, black olive, glazed carrot, fried onions rings, shaved almond, rice pilaf and lemon confit.

Tender meat with no bad smell at all. It was one of the best lamb shank, I guess. It's very easy to separate the meat from the bone. The rice pilaf tasted very delicious. And the taste of the Moroccan spices enhanced the flavour of the meat. So tender, it melted in my mouth. Definitely state-of-the-art.

Pilaf is a dish in which rice is cooked in a seasoned broth. In some cases, the rice may also attain its brown colour by being stirred with pieces of cooked onion, as well as a mix of spices.

Organic Grilled 1/2 Boneless Chicken 110k

Char-grilled marinated organic 1/2 boneless chicken, sweet potatoes gnocchi, mushroom sauce, crispy onion ring.

Boneless chicken was my favourite. It's very easy to eat boneless meat. The sweet potatoes gnocchi and crispy onion ring were enhanced the taste of the chicken. And you must know that mushroom sauce was a "safe" sauce for every dish. So yeah, it's one recommended dish.

DESSERT

Frozen Nougatine 65k

Frozen Mascarpone, meringue, almond, raisin, dry apricot, amaretto served with salted caramel sauce.

It's their best-seller dessert. The presentation was breathtaking. Too bad I was late eating the frozen nougatine. It's less frozen. They said that it was better when it's frozen. So next time I will order it and finish it in a jiffy. Cold and crunchy. Must-try dessert.
