[EVENT] Street-Food Festival at Signatures Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta

August 14th, 2017. I was invited to Signatures restaurant at Hotel Indonesia Kempinsi. They will hold a street-food festival from August 11th to August 31st, 2017. The festival, held to celebrate the country’s 72nd year of independence, is intended to treat both local and overseas customers to an authentic culinary experience. Asia, and Indonesia in particular, are renowned for street-food vendors who serve up tasty treats often not found in high-class establishments. And to keep the festival as authentic as possible, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski is inviting Jakarta’s most popular vendors to actually come to the restaurant to work their magic.

“We know that in Jakarta, street food is king,” said Executive Chef Mathias Olsson. “We only want to serve the most authentic dishes that are familiar to Indonesians’ taste buds so that Jakartans will appreciate them, and so that overseas visitors can have a truly Indonesian experience within the comfort of our hotel.” “Hotel Indonesia Kempinski is truly proud of its heritage,” noted General Manager Alex Pichel. “So what better way to celebrate this than to invite genuine street-food vendors into the hotel to work alongside our chefs in producing authentic culinary treats for our guests.”

To maintain health and safety standards, the vendors will be required to undertake a medical check-up and will be trained in food preparation hygiene standards before they can join the team at Signatures. And what a feast they will bring: more than 30 dishes, from bakso to satay to rujak, which are commonly found on the streets of Jakarta, will be curated and presented in a buffet and in food stalls set up at the restaurant and its al fresco terrace.

Surprisingly I loved all of them. My first love was the ketoprak. OMG! It was really delicious. The bakwan malang was also appetizing. Well, in fact, I ate one and half portion of Ketoprak hahaahaha..

Prices will range from 338k++ per person for lunch during weekdays to 508k++ for weekend lunches and dinners. Dinners will cost 388k++ per person from Monday to Thursday and 488k++ on Friday.
