[CLOSED] Tapas Movida Cipete Raya Jakarta
November 15th, 2014. I went to Tapas Movida at Cipete Raya with my best buddies. Actually, I thought I was only accompanying him, but turned out that we had food tasting there. And not only some food, but a lot of food. OMG!
Tapas (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtapas]) are a wide variety of appetizers, or snacks, in Spanish cuisine.
MoVida is the kind of place you can come in for a beer and a croquetta at the bar and then move to a table and share a plate with a glass of red wine.
Actually I captured not so much pictures. Let your eyes do the job capturing every moments, when you go there by yourself. Well, when I stepped in, the low lighting made me feel an exotic feeling. It's like coming to a different world. It's so.. Spanish *yeah rite* LOL
Now, I walked you down to the cuisines :)
Traditional Sangria by jug 325k
They served us Sangria by jug, but I forgot to take picture of it. So, this was my glass of Sangria :) Not so strong wine and quite refreshing. I think I like sangria.
Sangria is a typical beverage from Spain and Portugal. It normally consists of wine, chopped fruit, a sweetener, and a small amount of added brandy. Chopped fruit can include orange, lemon, lime, apple, peach, melon, berries, pineapple, grape, kiwifruit and mango. A sweetener such as honey, sugar, syrup, or orange juice is added. Instead of brandy, other liquids such as Seltzer, Sprite or 7 Up may be added. Sangria is steeped while chilled for as little as minutes or up to a few days.
PINCHOS
Small snack, typically eaten in bars, traditional in northern Spain and especially popular in the Basque country and Navarre.
They're called pinchos because many of them have a pincho (Spanish for spike), typically a toothpick —or a skewer for the larger varieties— through them.
Taco Cup 20k
Super recommended! I like vegetables, but sometimes depends on my mood. But, this taco cup was addicting. True. Very addicting. I really like it. The taco, the cheese, ohmaigatttt.. *drooling* Outstanding taste for such a small snack. Love it. I wanna go there again only to order this one. Nom nom nom.
Mini guacamole burgers with roasted corn, mango and red pepper salsa 20k
Not my kind of snack. I prefer burger with beef patty, not with guacamole or any kind of salsa. As you know, meat is my favourite food. That's why I hope the guacamole, roasted corn, mango and red pepper salsa will turn into beef patty hahahaha.. But for those who likes guacamole maybe will like the dish.
Garlic prawns with guacamole salsa verde dressing 20k
The garlic prawns were delicious. One swallow but a thousand feelings. Ugh, I'm in the romantic mood LOL. The prawn was so fresh. The guacamole salsa was tasty. What a well-seasoned dish!
Scotch egg 25k
Half-cooked egg was always my favourite. This dish tasted so good, I set aside about the no-flavour salad. Anyhow, the scotch egg succeeded in making me craving for it.
A Scotch egg consists of a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in bread crumbs and baked or deep-fried.
MONTADITOSA
all served on garlic baguette toast
A Montadito is a staple of the culinary arts from Spain. It is a unique tapa-sized rolls of bread similar to a baguette but wider and with a twist. Each montadito is filled with the best ingredients available, too bad we can’t tell you exactly which ones because it’s a secret. The montadito is a tradition that predates even the sandwich all the way back to the fifteenth century. It’s a time-tested formula distilled to perfection.
Roasted green paprika, tenderloin and brie 39.5k
This dish was cute. I love the brie. Tasted lovely and very moist. The tenderloin was a little bit hard to chew, but it's not annoying. Overall, this was a delish dish for starter. Oh by the way, I love the baguette because it's not chewy. It's crunchy and crispy. Crunch crunch crunch.
Brie (/briː/; French: [bʁi]) is a soft cow's milk cheese named after Brie, the French region from which it originated (roughly corresponding to the modern département of Seine-et-Marne). It is pale in color with a slight grayish tinge under a rind of white mold. The whitish moldy rind is typically eaten, its flavor depending largely upon the ingredients used and its manufacturing environment.
Roasted red paprika, foie gras and quail egg 39.5k
This baguette had a different filling from the dish above. Foie gras and quail egg were the stars here. Cute flavour with a pretty presentation. The red colour mingled beautifully with the yellow colour. Well, everything with foie gras is always delicious, right? :D
RACIONES
Small snack, typically eaten in bars, traditional in northern Spain and especially popular in the Basque country and Navarre.
This is a portion of a food. Spanish ham, jamon serrano is typically seen served this way. Selecting raciones is a good way to have lunch or dinner with a group by ordering in this way as people share the dishes in the centre of the table. You can eat a little bit of what you most enjoy.
Beef meatballs served in a hot and spicy tomato sauce 55k
Actually, I expected more from those meatballs. The size was good. The portion was great. But tasted just like any other meatballs. Nothing special about it. The sauce was no different from others too. But, as usual, everybody has different taste bud. :)
Salmon fish cakes served with a chilli mayonnaise 65k
Fish cakes. I love fish cakes. First, I thought it was "perkedel." But turned out, it was fish cake. Tasted good. The skin was a little bit crunchy, and the filling was very moist. Good thing the chilli mayonnaise wasn't that spicy :)
Fried chicken lollipops coated in sesame seeds, tapas coleslaw and wasabi cream 65k
Waaaa.. so cute.. It really looked like lollipops. It tasted like I thought. Delicious. The chicken was tender. When I ate this, I felt like a kid with her lollipop lalalala.. But not the sweet one. The savoury one. LOL.
White wine, garlic and herb prawns served with fresh baguette 75k
First I thought it will be like a so-so soup. When I sipped the soup.. To-die-for!! The prawns were cooked very well, so fresh, and not smelly at all. Dip the baguette and you will taste heaven. Hahaha. Kidding. Just a little bit of heaven, actually. :D
Grilled duck breast with orange salad, toasted pine nuts and spicy cointreau dressing 125k
A person once told me that duck breast was more tender than chicken breast. That's why I always order duck breast wherever I go. Lucky me, the dish was grilled duck breast, not duck leg LOL. And, this grilled duck breast was tender and delicious. The salad dressing tasted good because the cointreau added a subtle sweetness to the dressing. Splendid.
SOUPS AND SALAD
Beetroot, cauliflower puree, rocket, walnuts, pumpkin and bacon lardons 65k
This salad looked tempting. But, turned out, I didn't like beetroot. I prefer an ordinary caesar salad hihihi. Yes, another play safe. I just tasted a little bit. Sorry, not my type of salad. :(
The beetroot is the taproot portion of the beet plant, also known in North America as the table beet, garden beet, red or golden beet, or informally simply as the beet.
Rocket (known as arugula) has a pungent, peppery flavor that is exceptionally strong for a leafy green. It is frequently used in salads, often mixed with other greens in a mesclun.
Broccoli, apple and bacon salad 65k
This salad was safer for me. Only broccoli, apple and bacon. Although I didn't like apple, this salad was still pleasant. Colourful and crunchy. Hard to resist, right? It's simple but flavourful.
“To remember a successful salad is generally to remember a successful dinner; at all events, the perfect dinner necessarily includes the perfect salad.”
MAIN COURSE
Seabass, scallops, potatoes rosti and beetroot confit, served with basil oil and red pepper cream 175k
The combination between seabass and scallops was magnificent. The seabass was so tender, it melted in your mouth. And the dish was simple yet beautiful. Red and green colour reminded me of Christmas. Aaaah, felt so near to holiday.
Rösti ([ˈrøːʃti]) or röschti is a Swiss dish consisting mainly of potatoes. Many Swiss people consider rösti a national dish. Today, rather than considering it a complete breakfast, it is more commonly served to accompany other dishes such as "Spinat und Spiegelei" (spinach andfried eggs, sunny side up), cervelas or Fleischkäse. It is also a dish one can order in most restaurants to replace the standard side dish of any given meal.
Tenderloin with creamed mashed potatoes, shallot confit, chives, oysters and mushrooms 395k
The tenderloin was not tender enough for me to chew. Good thing, the mashed potato was delicious. A little bit too salty for my palate, but it was delicious. The tenderloin tasted good too. Good job. They made it well-seasoned. :)
A beef tenderloin, known as an eye fillet in New Zealand and Australia, fillet in South Africa and the UK, filet in France and Germany, is cut from the loin of beef.
Pork belly with octopus, white bean puree and chilli oil 175k
Say no more! This was the best dish that night. Best dish! The pork belly was tender and juicy and moist and omaigaaaaaat.. everything great.. The octopus was juicy and chewy and another omaigaaaaat.. Super recommended! Must-try! Err.. pardon my behaviour. LOL.
PAELLA
Valencian rice dish with ancient roots that originated in its modern form in the mid-nineteenth century near Albufera lagoon, a coastal lagoon in Valencia, on the east coast of Spain
Chicken and Seafood 2 pax 155k 4 pax 250k
Rice!!! Yup, paella is a rice dish. And, all of my readers must know that I love rice. Too bad, that night I was already full so I couldn't eat them all LOL. As you can see in the picture below, the chicken and the seafood were very generous, right? And it looked so creamy with a right texture. Superb!
DESSERT
Churros 40k
Best churros I've ever tried so far. The chocolate sauce dipping was sweet and sacchariferous. I love the texture of the churros. Crunchy and fluffy at the same time. Recommended!
Churros ice cream sandwich 40k
choose your own ice cream flavour
It just a different form of churros. Still the crunchy and fluffy with additional of ice cream.
Thanks Tapas Movida and Zomato for the very generous dinner. Special thanks to Riz for the hospitality. We will come back soon for more delicious dishes. :)
