January 25th, 2017. I visited The Writers Bar once again. It's high tea time. They offered a Chinese-themed high tea since January 21st, and finally I could squeeze a day to visit them.

Beginning 2017, Raffles Jakarta offers an extensive range of festive menu to welcome the Lunar New Year. Celebrate The Year of The Rooster with our sumptuous Chinese-themed high tea at The Writers Bar.

Chinese New Year High Tea offers a exceptional spread of the Chinese-themed savouries and sweets including Glutinous Red Bean Rice Ball, Macau Egg Tart with Bird Nest, and Selection of Four Types of Special Dim Sum. Available from January 21st to January 29th, 2017 between 3pm to 5pm. Price at IDR 350k++ for 1 high tea tower set inclusive of 2 cups of Chinese tea. Peek into the future with a traditional Fortune Teller on Saturday, January 28th and Sunday, January 29th, 2017, available during high tea hour.

1st LEVEL

Mantao BBQ Duck with shredded Cucumber Spring Onion, Chinese Five Spice Chicken Sandwich, Fried Char Siew Bun

Love the chinese five spice chicken sandwich and the mantao BBQ duck. The mantao was soft and the sandwich was tasty. The fried char siew bun was a little bit too salty. I prefer sweet for char siew.

2nd LEVEL

Macau Egg Tart, Matcha Latte Layered Sponge, Scones

Couldn't stop eating the macau egg tart, even though it's too eggy. The matcha latte layered sponge was the winner! Not too sweet, but it's delish for sweet-tooth. Love the cream and jelly for the scones. Fantastic.

3rd LEVEL

Selection of Macaroon Gold & Charcoal - Red Velvet - Vanilla, Glutinous Red Bean Rice Ball, Bitter Orange Verrine

Bitter Orange Verrine stole my attention. It's a fluffy texture with unique taste. Didn't really fond of the glutinous red bean rice ball, but the macaroons were amazingly delicious.
