[CLOSED] Ming Dine and Chill epiwalk Rasuna Epicentrum Jakarta
October 22nd 2013. I was invited to an event called Tea Revolution (T-Rev) that took place at Ming Dine and Chill, epiwalk. It's so near my apartment so I just said, "Yes, I will come." I thought, it's so unique to attend an event like that. I used to come to wine tasting, not tea tasting. So, it must be fun.
First, they showed us around the restaurant. Ming Dine and Chill is a one of the best Chinese restaurant in Jakarta. Ming Dine and Chill was designed as a fine dining with its cozy and elegant place to talk business or just getting along with family and friends.
They also have a bar that decorated so comfortable with lovely interiors and seats.
After that, they started the event. Danny, Sales Director from Devieni Tea introduced us many kind of teas. Let me share it to you all.
Chrysanthemum
Chrysanthemum tea is a flower-based tisane made from chrysanthemum flowers of the species Chrysanthemum morifolium. Chrysanthemum tea has many purported medicinal uses, including an aid in recovery from influenza, acne and as a "cooling" herb. With their unique taste, this tea is served in a lot of Chinese food restaurants. Suitable for snacks or steamed dimsum like siomay, chicong fan, etc.
Oolong
Famous by its sweetness and its aroma, Oolong is a traditional Chinese tea (Camellia sinensis) produced through a unique process including withering under the strong sun and oxidation before curling and twisting. There's one process named Shaking. So, the tea leaves were shaked to make some "wound" each other. The wound surprisingly resulting aroma and better taste. There are type of Oolong tea like Gao shan Oolong, Dong ding Oolong and Tie Guanying.
Suitable for food like fish, chicken, seafood, etc.
Black Tea
Black tea is a type of tea that is more oxidized than oolong, green and white teas. All four types are made from leaves of the shrub (or small tree) Camellia sinensis. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor than the less oxidized teas. Black tea in Mandarin is called Hong Cha (Red tea). This is the most famous tea in world. Suitable for many kind of food like curry and fried food.
Long Jing
Long jing tea leaves are therefore "unfermented." When steeped, the tea produces a yellow-green color. High quality Long jing teas produce tender, whole leaves that are uniform in appearance. Long jing is a little bit sweet with soft aroma. Suitable for sweet snack or sweet cake.
White Tea
White tea was famous because it contains the most antioxidants. The name "white tea" derives from the fine silvery-white hairs on the unopened buds of the tea plant, which gives the plant a whitish appearance.
Now we would do some pairing with special menu from Ming Dine and Chill.
