[CLOSED] [EVENT] Wild Turkey Bourbon J.House Pavilion Apartment Jakarta

September 7th, 2015. I was invited to Wild Turkey Bourbon event which located at J.House Wine and Resto, Pavilion Apartment. It was my first time there, though I've known the location. It's very near Citywalk Sudirman. Just across the road. The place was nice and cold. Yup, I froze, I guess. It's quite dark, I couldn't take many pictures. It's so dark. So please, be advised. :)

First of all, let me introduce to you to Robin Coupar. He is the Global Brand Ambassador.

Robin Coupar, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, is a leading whisk(e)y expert who has dedicated more than 21 years to the industry. Robin is the Global Brand Ambassador for Gruppo Campari’s whisk(e)y portfolio that includes Glen Grant Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Wild Turkey Kentucky Straight Bourbon and Rye Whiskey, Russell’s Reserve Bourbon & Rye Whiskey and Forty Creek Canadian Whisky.


Robin’s passion and knowledge of whisk(e)y started in Scotland but extended well past the UK borders. His expertise was built through a series of assignments with some of the most renowned players in the world including United Distillers and Diageo where he worked on Johnnie Walker, Bell’s Blended Scotch Whiskies and the Classic Malts of Scotland. With the LVMH group Robin further spread the whisky gospel with brands such as Glenmorangie and Ardbeg.


Since March 2008 Robin has managed the fine Whisk(e)y portfolio at Campari America, this time with a broader scope as he has worked with whiskies from all over the worldincluding the Suntory whiskies, Glenrothes, Bowmore, Auchentoshan, Glen Grant and Russell’s Reserve.

In 1954, Jimmy Russell joined Wild Turkey. He was newly married to his high school sweetheart, Joretta, and just 19 years old. His first official duty was sweeping the floors in the distillery rick house. Sixty years later, the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Famer has worked every job there is at Wild Turkey, and is recognised as the longest-tenured active Master Distiller in the world.


Jimmy learned the crafted of Bourbon-making from folks who were distilling before Prohibition. He soon found mentors in Wild Turkey's second Master Distiller, Bill Hughes and Ernest W. Ripy, Jr., who was the great-nepheew of distillery founder James Ripy, and also Wild Turkey's third Master Distiller.

Jimmy's son Eddie is leading Wild Turkey into the new Bourbon frontier. Appointed Master Distiller in January 2015, Eddie brings the same passion and uncompromised integrity as his father. Working side by side, they are the only active father and son distilling team in the industry. Together, they carry almost 100 years of combined experience in Bourbon making.


Like Jimmy, Eddie worked his way up from the bottom. He started as a relief operator in 1981 and put in decades of toil and study. Eddie has his eye to the future, and is working on new whiskeys that appeal to the tastes of a growing international market and a new, younger generation of Bourbon drinkers in America.

Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon


The first Wild Turkey ever produces. A marriage of 6,7, and 8 year old bourbons. Distilled at a lower proof than competitors and bottled at 101 proof - has less water added, which gives it a fuller and more pure bourbon taste, closer to the original taste of bourbon. The benchmark in bourbon.

Wild Turkey 81


Wild Turkey 81 was exclusively developed by Eddie Russell with today's whiskey drinker in mind. A marriage of mostly 6,7, and 8 year old bourbons, aged longer than any other whiskey in its category. More mellow than its big brother, but still captures the boldness of the original 101 proof. Perfect straight, mixed with cola or in a traditional whiskey cocktails.

Wild Turkey American Honey


Wild Turkey American Honey is an exceptionally smooth 71 proof (35.5% alcohol) liqueur blended with pure honey and real Wild Turkey Bourbon Whiskey. Wild Turkey Master's Keep

It is a golden hue, perhaps lighter than one might expect from a 17 year old whiskey. The color is attributed to the whiskey’s time in the stone warehouses, where the liquid would have less interaction with the barrel’s charred wood thanks to the cooler temperatures within.
